ComfyLight AG recently announced that it met its Kickstarter goal in less than 7 hours for its smart light bulb that actively protects your home from intruders. The campaign at www.comfylight.com/kickstarter began on January 22nd, 2016, and has nearly doubled its goal already. With three weeks left in the campaign, ComfyLight continues to recruit early backers, to further finance the development of an API.
The Kickstarter campaign aimed to raise 50,000 USD from backers to put ComfyLight into production. After flying past that goal, the company is working towards its first stretch goal. If ComfyLight raises 150,000 USD it will provide a stable and well-documented API to enable integration with other devices, like smart doorbells or, for instance, Philips Hue. This will trigger the development of additional applications and further enhance the existing functionality.

The ComfyLight LED bulb makes burglars believe you are home when you are not. ComfyLight is the first LED bulb that learns how you and your family move around your home and automatically simulates this behavior when you are out – without requiring complicated programming of timers and settings. The ComfyLight app shows you who is at home at any time, but privacy is also a priority, and respected. The app displays an icon for each person, so no photos or video footage. The data is held on servers in Germany, which are certified to handle highly sensitive data.
ComfyLight has received numerous awards since 2014, most recently winning the CES Innovation Award. After three years of research and development, the product is now ready to enter the market. Thanks to the Kickstarter campaign, ComfyLight can now go into production.
