WiLinx Receives $15 Million in Equity Funding
1/12/07 – Los Angeles-based WiLinx Corp. announced this week that it has completed a $15 million round of equity funding from Third Wave Ventures. Two Third Wave partners, Babak Razi and Barak Bussel, who have been directors of WiLinx since its inception, will continue to serve on the company’s board.
WiLinx describes itself as a fabless semiconductor company providing low-cost, low-power single-chip CMOS solutions that enable WiMedia-based, universal, robust wireless connectivity with enhanced range and data-rates for Wireless Personal Area Networks.
According to the company, its WiLinx patented True UWBTM technology offers universal operation, adapting to worldwide spectrum regulations and thereby offering the highest performance in each geographic region, including Europe, Asia and the United States.
“With the achievements of our team and strong support from Third Wave, we now plan to enhance the company’s leadership in Ultrawideband technology and deliver the best, most robust solutions to our customers,” said Masoud Djafari, CEO and co-founder of WiLinx.
“We invest in people with the passion and skills to build great companies, and this is reflected in our partnership with WiLinx,” said Babak Razi. “Masoud and Rahim have built the best wireless team in the country. They have had the bold vision to pursue the most challenging technology and implement it completely in CMOS. As a result, in addition to UWB, the company is also on the cusp of several other key wireless technologies.”
