Roundup: DEMO 07

2/1/07 – The DEMO 07 conference concludes today, and several local companies have introduced products and services at the show, which started Tuesday in Palm Desert.  DEMO is widely recognized as the premier platform for product and service debuts.  Sixty-eight companies were selected by DEMO to participate in this year’s show, including six from the greater Los Angeles region representing a wide range of technology sectors and services.

eJamming unveiled its eJamming AUDiiO Internet service and software for musicians.  The company, based in both Valley Village and Boca Raton, Fla., says that eJamming AUDiiO is the first to enable any musician - acoustic or electronic, student or professional - to make music and collaborate with others in real-time over the Internet.  The new software and service is set to be available for download at the company web site in late March.

eJamming describes the AUDiiO product as a virtual practice and recording studio for the estimated 250 million musicians and singers worldwide.  Musicians can write, rehearse, record, learn and play with each other over the Internet, in real time and in sync.  Users only need access to a computer, a broadband Internet connection, audio interface device and microphone.

Los Angeles-based Shipwire.com unveiled a service for online merchants to outsource the entire process of receiving, warehousing and shipping merchandise.  According to the company, the service offers quick set-up and “hands-off” administration, enabling someone without training to configure an account and have it fully operational in less than 15 minutes.  Shipwire.com then packs and ships customer orders.

With plans starting at $29.95 a month, Shipwire.com is targeted at the small business market.  The company says it is set apart from other offerings by its national warehouse network, bundled pricing and an open developer network.

Santa Monica-based TeleFlip introduced its email and text-messaging service for mobile phones, whereby all mobile phones will be able to receive emails, calendar alerts and online content feeds like news, weather and sports, without any new software or downloads.

The free service launches in March in the U.S., Canada and Western Europe.  According to TeleFlip, users enter their mobile phone number, e-mail address and e-mail password on the TeleFlip web site and their email messages will immediately flow from their email box to their mobile device.

Another company that made its official “alpha” debut at DEMO is CircleUp, which offers tools to manage online contacts and information.  According to the company, CircleUp is a “social communication” service that enables the organization and management of emails and instant messages for information gathering, collaboration and decision making.

The Newport Beach-based company touts its Answer Patterns feature as a way to ask questions of groups using email and instant messaging and get back a single, organized result rather that a blizzard of emails and instant messages.

In a completely different sector, Irvine-based Integrien used the DEMO platform to launch a new version of its flagship Alive 5.5 product that provides management tools for SAP and other enterprise applications.  According to Integrien, the new features included with this version of Alive enable IT organizations to predict and prevent application slowdowns or outages in a range of distributed applications.

Finally, there was Los Angeles-based Panjea, which introduced its entry into the online video space to the DEMO audience.  Panjea enables individual users to create their very own TV channel for free and to invite friends, fans, and colleagues to watch.
