Xirrus Deploys Wi-Fi Network at Manufacturing and Distribution Facility
2/7/07 – Westlake Village-based Xirrus, the provider of high- performance, long-range wi-fi products, has announced the deployment of their Wi-Fi Arrays in Car Sound Exhaust System Inc.’s new state-of-the-art manufacturing, distribution and warehouse facility in Oceanside.
The deployment consists of six Wi-Fi Arrays, five XS-3700 Wi-Fi Arrays and one XS-3500 Wi-Fi Array, covering the 250,000 square foot building. The arrays are designed to support more than 100 client devices including bar code scanners, laptops and wi-fi-enabled printers. According to Xirrus, the resulting 802.11a/b/g wi-fi network is highly resilient, scalable and secure to support mission-critical inventory and order processing applications that connect to corporate headquarters.
“We needed a scalable and resilient wi-fi network to give us the infrastructure to pick, pack, ship and monitor orders throughout our facility in a real time fashion,” said Marc Mendez, senior director of information technology, Car Sound Exhaust System. “We chose Xirrus because of the Array’s increased coverage capabilities and Integrated Wi-Fi Threat Sensor which significantly reduced the number of access points needed throughout our facility, resulting in significant cost savings.”
