Xirrus Successfully Delivers Wi-Fi Network at Mobile and Wireless Conference

3/12/07 – Westlake Village-based Xirrus, the provider of high-performance, long-range wi-fi products, today announced another implementation of its Rapid Deployment Wi-Fi solution—this time for Frost & Sullivan’s Mobile and Wireless Enterprise 2007, held last week in Indian Wells, Calif.  The company has recently announced successful deployments at several industry conferences for Advance Concepts and at Car Sound Exhaust System’s new manufacturing, distribution and warehouse facility in Oceanside.

The company says that the most recent implementation required a total of only three Wi-Fi Arrays in order to provide the required coverage and bandwidth throughout the conference center and exhibit hall.  Xirrus says that two of the three Arrays were connected together using a 162 mbps wi-fi mesh backhaul that stretched the wi-fi network allowing it to reach outside the convention area.

“Xirrus truly impressed us with the flawlessness of their wi-fi performance and coverage at our show and the efficiency of how quickly it was deployed,” said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D, vice president and chief analyst, mobile & wireless for Frost & Sullivan.  “Mobile and Wireless Enterprise is known for highlighting the latest technology innovation in the industry, so it was key to have a trustworthy partner like Xirrus to provide the wi-fi network for our event.”

“Xirrus is making great strides as the up-and-coming leader in the wi-fi industry, with the latest generation in enterprise wi-fi architecture and a commitment to furthering the future of 802.11n,” said John DiGiovanni, director of marketing for Xirrus.  “We are proud to be chosen to participate and provide the wi-fi network in another well-respected show, known for attracting serious IT decision makers, who want to the see the best in mobile and wireless.”

Xirrus also says that during a demonstration of how the wi-fi network was set up, the company displayed a live video feed of the fairway 18 of the Hyatt Grand Champions Resort and Spa utilizing an off-the-shelf wi-fi camera.  The company says the video feed crossed three wireless hops of the wi-fi network highlighting how the Xirrus architecture easily and cost effectively delivers wi-fi both indoors and outdoors in a campus environment, enabling new applications such as video surveillance.
