Will Google Buy Spot Runner?
4/12/07 – Now that Google has made its way into TV advertising through a deal with EchoStar’s DishNetwork and a possible partnership with DirecTV, Los Angeles-based Spot Runner seems to be a viable possibility for acquisition by Internet giant.
Acquiring Spot Runner would immediately give Google’s a local market presence in TV advertising and provide it with a viable advertising sales platform. There is also precedent for an acquisition of this sort-Google's purchase of dMarc Broadcasting upon which the company built its radio advertising initiative.
Spot Runner, for one, sees Google’s move into TV as an opportunity (see Spot Runner Sees Opportunity in Google’s Foray Into TV Ads). With the company’s head start in doing exactly what Google seems to want to do, is there any way Google can afford to not pursue a Spot Runner acquisition?
