Buckland Takes Reigns at Soliant Energy

6/7/07 – Pasadena-based Soliant Energy, a developer of solar energy technology and solutions, has announced the appointment of Art Buckland as CEO.  Soliant says Buckland will lead the company in its drive to commercialize its Heliotube solar panels while making the company a leader in grid-priced solar electricity.

Buckland is an entrepreneur and senior executive whose experience includes leading six startups and two IPOs.  Former CEO and founder Brad Hines has become the company’s CTO.

Soliant says it aims to achieve grid-cost electricity by 2010, with plans to ship its first product for carport and commercial rooftop applications later this year.

The company, previously known as Practical Instruments, was founded in 2005 by a team of NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory engineers.  Soliant’s investors include Trinity Ventures, Nth Power, Rockport Capital Partners and Rincon Venture Partners.
