CircleUp Launches New Service for Group Web Sites and Social Networks; Completes $3 Million Funding Round

6/27/07 – A day after announcing that it has closed a $3 million funding round, CircleUp, the Newport Beach-based provider of a service that turns email and instant messenger into social communication tools, today debuted a new, embeddable “MyQuestions” widget for web sites.  CircleUp says the feature works on any web site, blog or social network serving groups, and users can communicate with their group or audience right from their site.

CircleUp, part of the DEMO 07 class from earlier this year, offers a free service that allows users to use email or instant messenger services to ask a question or gather information from groups of any size and get back a single, organized answer.

CircleUp’s latest funding round was an investment from Sid R. Bass Associates.  In conjunction with the financing, CircleUp added Perse Faily, general partner, and Paul Pappajohn, venture partner at Sid R. Bass, to its board of directors.  The company, which is currently in beta mode, says it plans to use the $3 million in capital to continue development, increase user adoption and expand partnerships as it moves toward its official commercial release later this year.
