FOX Interactive Acquires Flektor

6/1/07 – In a “You Tube-esque” fast rise to success, Culver City-based Flektor has been acquired by FOX Interactive, owner of MySpace.com.  Founded just last year, Flektor provides users with photo, video and audio editing tools for content creation and manipulation.  FOX made the announcement this week along with its purchase of popular photo site Photobucket.

Flektor gives users a suite of web-based tools that can be used to turn photos and videos into dynamic slideshows, postcards, live interactive presentations and video mash-ups, and also embed them on web sites, blogs or social network profile pages.

The company was started by Jason Rubin and Andy Gavin, who previously co-founded game developer Naughty Dog.  Flektor says it will operate as a stand-alone subsidiary.

While the companies did not disclose the value of the acquisition, TechCrunch estimates the range to be between $15-$20 million.
