Language Weaver Ships New Version of Translation Software

6/1/07 – Language Weaver, the Los Angeles-based developer of software for automatic language translation, has released the latest version of its statistical machine translation software.  The company says the new version provides better functionality for the translation workflow process.

Language Weaver also says it is introducing an expanded list of Asian languages, including Korean and traditional Chinese, with Japanese soon to follow.

The company says it has increased ease of use and workflow productivity for translation and localization service providers through a number of new features that allow users to start with a document in a rigid format, such as PDF or a Microsoft Office application, then translate the content and receive the output in a format that is widely used and industry-standard.

Founded in 2002, Language Weaver uses proprietary statistical translation algorithms that resulted from research and development at the University of Southern California’s Information Sciences Institute.  The company is backed by Palisades Ventures, the Tech Coast Angels and the Athenaeum Fund.  It recently launched a consumer-focused subsidiary called Kontrib.
