LogicalApps Works with Government Agencies to Protect Personal Data
6/21/07 – Irvine-based LogicalApps, the provider of compliance software and solutions, is assisting government agencies in safeguarding Social Security numbers as mandated by the Office of Management and Budget, or OMB, through specific capabilities in its ACTIVE Governance solution.
The company says the latest mandate from the OMB reminds agencies that they have a legal obligation, under the Privacy Act of 1974 and the 2004 Federal Information Security Management Act, to protect personal data. LogicalApps says it is currently working with government agencies like the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Federal Aviation Administration to meet this mandate.
Through the use of real-time controls in ACTIVE Governance, LogicalApps says it is able to protect sensitive data by applying data masking policies and reconfiguring application forms to hide sensitive fields without any programming required. As a result, agencies can ensure that only people with official and legitimate needs have access to Social Security numbers.
LogicalApps also announced that it will team with the Grant Thornton Global Public Sector practice in an upcoming webinar to present best practices for complying with this mandate for Federal agency officials involved in compliance, risk management, finance, accounting and IT.
