Oversee.net Acquires SnapNames
6/1/07 – Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, an online media company in the domain and online marketing services businesses, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire SnapNames, operator of the largest available source of expired and deleting domain names. The companies are not revealing the terms of the acquisition, but said it is expected to close by mid-June.
SnapNames, formed in 2000 and based in Portland, Oregon, provides what it says is the first commercially available technology for pre-ordering a currently registered domain name.
Oversee.net says the company’s senior management will continue to run SnapNames and its headquarters will remain in Portland.
Oversee owns several properties focused on the domain market, including DomainSponsor and Revenue.net. CEO Lawrence Ng says the purchase will serve as “an important enhancement to Oversee’s capabilities in domain services.”
Oversee.net was established in 2000 by then 21-year-old Ng and Fred Hsu.
