Xirrus Provides Wireless Network for Public Transportation Facility
6/18/07 – Xirrus, the Westlake Village-based provider of long-range, high-performance wi-fi products, has announced the deployment of its Wi-Fi Arrays across three buildings at the Pierce Transit headquarters, in Pierce County, Washington.
The company says its Arrays created a high performance wi-fi network and significantly reduced the amount of equipment and installation expenses often associated with deploying large wi-fi networks. The entire deployment required only eight Wi-Fi Arrays where the nearest competitive bid required more than 70 access points to provide similar coverage and bandwidth, according to Xirrus.
Xirrus has had an active year in terms of new deployments of its Wi-Fi Arrays. This is the 11th new deployment announcement since January.
The company was founded in 2004 by former Xircom executives and is backed by investors that include U.S. Venture Partners and August Capital.
