Answerbag Introduces Facebook Application
7/9/07 – Answerbag, a question-and-answer “social knowledge” platform and a division of Santa Monica-based Demand Media, today debuted a Facebook social question and answer application that it says gives users free reign to ask questions and get answers without having to leave Facebook. The company says the Answerbag Facebook Application allows users to post questions and receive answers from anyone on Facebook and from the entire Answerbag community.
Facebook, one of the most trafficked social networking sites, recently opened up its API to allow outside developers to build applications and services that can be integrated into its site.
Answerbag says questions generated from the application are added to the growing Answerbag knowledgebase and can then be answered by users on Answerbag.com or from the Facebook community. Users can also see the questions their friends are asking, and can invite other friends to answer their questions and share knowledge with the people in their network, according to Answerbag.
Answerbag was founded in 2003 and says it has grown a database of 300,000 unique questions and 1 million user-vetted answers that are organized into 3,500 categories covering hundreds of vertical categories.
