Helio Launches New Exchange Mail Service

7/25/07 – As rival mobile service provider Amp’d Mobile shuts down, Los Angeles-based mobile virtual network operator, or MVNO, Helio continues to launch new services for its customers.  This time it's access to Microsoft Outlook through its Ocean device, which the company says lets users wirelessly synchronize email, calendar and contacts from their company’s Microsoft Exchange Server.

Helio says the service, not surprisingly called "Mail for Microsoft Exchange," uses the Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync protocol to allow remote synchronization and access to corporate Exchange Server features.

The company says it also plans to launch Helio File Viewer in conjunction with the Outlook service.  When available, the File Viewer will allow users to view Microsoft Office-based documents.

Helio is making Mail for Microsoft Exchange available for $9.99-per-month, with a 60-day free trial to start.

Helio, founded in 2005, is a joint venture of Atlanta-based Internet service provider EarthLink and South Korea’s SK Telecom.
