Comparison Shopping Site Operator MeziMedia Acquired by ValueClick
7/18/07 – Monrovia-based MeziMedia announced this week that it has been acquired by Westlake Village-based online advertising company ValueClick. MeziMedia runs the Smarter.com comparison shopping and CouponMountain.com online coupon web sites.
Founded in 2001, MeziMedia employs 160 people in its Monrovia headquarters and offices in Shanghai, China, and Tokyo. In addition to its shopping web sites, MeziMedia developed a proprietary search engine marketing, or SEM, platform, along with expertise in search engine optimization and SEM.
The companies say that under the terms of the agreement, ValueClick will acquire all outstanding equity interests in MeziMedia for approximately $100 million in cash at the time of closing, and contingent cash consideration based on revenue and ad performance from the closing date through December 31, 2009. The companies say total cash consideration will range between $100 million and $352 million, depending on whether performance thresholds are met.
