Newport Media Unveils Mobile TV Chip Solution for Japan
7/23/07 – Newport Media, the Lake Forest-based fabless semiconductor company focused on the mobile broadcast media market, today unveiled what it says is the world’s first complete single-chip solution for the mobile version of Japan’s Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting-Terrestrial, or ISDB-T, digital television standard. The solution serves as a digital TV receiver that integrates a tuner, demodulator and all required memory in a single device.
The company says it will also serve as the foundation for future solutions aimed at other popular air interface standards including Terrestrial-Digital Multimedia Broadcasting and MediaFLO.
Newport Media says volume production is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year.
