Xirrus Gets Customer Win at Colorado School District

7/31/07 – Westlake Village-based Xirrus, the provider of high-performance, long-range wi-fi products, announced another major wi-fi network deployment, this time at all of the 55 schools in the Boulder Valley School District in Colorado.  The district services more than 28,000 students supported by 4,200 employees, according to Xirrus.

Xirrus says the deployment is part of an overall infrastructure upgrade that includes a high speed wide area network, voice-over-IP implementation, and a video distribution system, allowing educators to further enrich the district’s curriculum through distance learning, e-learning and the distribution of educational video content directly to students using laptops in the classroom.

The company was founded in 2004 by former Xircom executives and is backed by investors that include U.S. Venture Partners and August Capital.  The Boulder Valley deployment is the 13th major deployment this year for Xirrus.
