Amp’d Mobile Canada Discontinued by Telus

8/2/07 – The bankruptcy and subsequent dissolution of Los Angeles-based Amp’d Mobile is now being felt internationally, with the shutdown of Amp’d Mobile Canada.  The Canadian mobile phone and content service was a joint service of Amp’d and Canadian phone company Telus.

Reports say that Telus, which handled backend functions for the service like distribution, customer care and billing, officially shut the service down on Tuesday, but subscribers can still make calls and retrieve messages through the service.

Earlier this week, Amp’d’s assets were acquired by Prexar Mobile, just before the service was set to shut down completely.
