Boingo Wireless Launches New Wi-Fi Service at Michigan Airport
8/10/07 – Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless, through its Concourse Communications Group subsidiary, this week began providing wi-fi service for the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek International Airport. Boingo is an aggregator and operator of wi-fi networks worldwide.
The company says the service allows the approximately 500,000 travelers that use the airport annually to log in using an existing wi-fi account from their home service provider or purchase access from Boingo.
Concourse Communications operates neutral-host wireless access systems specifically for airports. The neutral-host network is designed to enable roaming access via existing partnerships with AT&T Wi-Fi, GoRemote, iPass, T-Mobile, and Orange France, in addition to Boingo’s services. Concourse also runs wi-fi networks at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, and Kennedy and LaGuardia airports in New York, among others.
Boingo says that its hot spot network now includes more than 100,000 locations around the world, including more than 400 airports total. Boingo was founded in 2001 by EarthLink and Helio founder Sky Dayton.
