Vuguru’s ‘Prom Queen’ to Appear on Blinkx.com
8/31/07 – Beverly Hills-based Vuguru, an online media studio founded by former Disney chief Michael Eisner, and Blinkx.com, a popular video search engine, have reached a deal to distribute Vuguru’s “Prom Queen: Summer Heat” series on the site.
The companies say that Blinkx is now showing the web-based program for free, with new two-minute episodes appearing daily for a three-week run, with the episodes archived on the site after airing.
The Prom Queen series has been an unqualified success for Vuguru, and has even earned an Emmy nomination.
Vuguru is owned by Eisner’s The Tornante Company, which invests in and incubates new media companies. Tornante also holds ownership stakes in Veoh Networks and Team Baby Entertainment.
