Xirrus Deploys Wi-Fi Networks at UK Music Festivals
Tweet8/9/07 – Xirrus, the Westlake Village-based provider of high-performance, long-range wi-fi products, announced today that it has successfully deployed wi-fi networks at several major music and arts festivals across the United Kingdom. The deployments were completed through an agreement with Wireless Events Ltd., which provides communications solutions for outdoor and touring events.
The wireless networks provided voice and data services throughout the venues for the artists, production staff, merchants and attendees. The events included the Glastonbury Festival, Latitude, The Big Chill and Rise, according to Xirrus. The company says deployments are also planned at Leeds and Reading Carling festivals and the V2008 music festivals—all in the UK.
Xirrus says it was selected by Wireless Events because it was the only solution that could be quickly configured and deployed to provide long-range coverage while offering multiple, integrated resiliency features to supply connectivity in a variety of changing weather conditions that included significant rainfall.
Xirrus was founded in 2004 and has raised capital from investors that include U.S. Venture Partners and August Capital.
