DigiContractor Offers Photo Measuring Software to California Fire Victims

10/30/07 – Tarzana-based DigiContractor, maker of the iPhotoMeasure digital photo-based measuring software, has announced that it is offering the use of its innovative technology free to victims of the Southern California wildfires.

The iPhotoMeasure software makes it possible to measure distances from a digital photograph of an area, home or room with accuracy.  Anyone whose property has been damaged or destroyed, who needs to know the dimensions of their home’s damage, needs to archive the data, or file an insurance claim, can email a photo to iPhotoMeasure at photo@iphotomeasure.com, according to the company.  The homeowner will then receive the measurements they require, at no cost.

DigiContractor says its software works by taking the dimensions of a known element in the photograph—such as a fireplace or a person—and using that information to calculate the dimensions of other objects in the photo.  Fire victims can also download a target from the iPhotoMeasure web site and use it in all of their photos as a reference point, the company says.  DigiContractor has also extended the offer to insurance company representatives who require area measurements on the properties they have insured.

The company was founded in 2004 by Paul Minor, a contractor and entrepreneur.
