Language Weaver Partners with Reseller
Tweet10/2/07 – Los Angeles-based Language Weaver, developer of software for automatic language translation, has signed a marketing, workflow integration and reseller agreement with Cambridge, Mass.-based Linguistic Systems.
The companies say that Linguistic Systems has obtained sales and marketing rights to resell Language Weaver’s technologies to government and enterprise customers. Linguistic Systems offers a range of desktop publishing resources in addition to broad translation capabilities. The companies say they will integrate Language Weaver’s automated translation software, called statistical machine translation software, or SMTS, into the Linguistic Systems workflow system, with human post-editing.
Linguistic Systems will offer translations using any of the 37 languages Language Weaver currently offers, adding fully-automated language capabilities and partial automation offerings to its human translation solutions.
Language Weaver says the alliance will increase its presence in the language services industry and business-to-business translation market.
The company was founded in 2002 based on statistical translation algorithms that resulted from research and development at USC’s Information Sciences Institute. It recently announced an effort to further expand its software’s ability to automatically translate less commonly taught languages. Language Weaver also runs a consumer-focused subsidiary called Kontrib.
The company is backed by Palisades Ventures, the Tech Coast Angels and the Athenaeum Fund.
