Xirrus Announces Around-the-Clock Wi-Fi Spectrum Analysis

10/9/07 – Westlake Village-based Xirrus, the provider of high-performance, long-range wi-fi products, has announced the availability of an embedded spectrum analyzer in its Wi-Fi Arrays product for easier wi-fi network connectivity management.

Xirrus says the spectrum analyzer utilizes Xirrus’ embedded and dedicated wi-fi threat sensor radio to monitor the 2.4 and 5 GHz spectrum of wi-fi networks continually—24 hours-a-day, seven days-a-week.

The company says that the first phase of implementation of the spectrum analyzer in Xirrus Arrays allows users to characterize the RF environment of an Array network by monitoring throughput, signal, noise, errors and interference levels continually per channel.  Rather than walking around to track down issues, users can centrally collect data from their desks and monitor the entire network at one time, according to Xirrus.

The company says the spectrum analyzer solution is included in every Wi-Fi Array at no cost to the user.

Xirrus also announced another deployment of its wi-fi arrays—this time at JSerra High School in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

Founded in 2004 by former Xircom executives, Xirrus is backed by U.S. Venture Partners and August Capital.
