Xirrus Deploys Wi-Fi Networks at Charter Schools

10/3/07 – Westlake Village-based Xirrus, the provider of high-performance, long-range wi-fi products, announced today that Envision Schools, a non-profit charter management organization located in the San Francisco Bay area, has selected Xirrus Wi-Fi Arrays for wi-fi coverage across each of its four high school campuses.

Envision says it uses the latest in technology to support its progressive project-based instructional model, which utilizes a personalized learning environment and workplace learning.  Arts and digital technology are integrated across all content areas as tools for understanding and expression.  Wi-fi is particularly important to this approach, as the schools have a 2-to-1 student to laptop ratio.

The deployment of Xirrus’ Wi-Fi Arrays is part of a string of major wins for the provider this year in a variety of locations across the U.S. and Europe.  The company was founded in 2004 by former Xircom executives and is backed by U.S. Venture Partners and August Capital.
