EdgeCast Networks Closes $6 Million Financing Round

12/14/07 – Los Angeles-based EdgeCast Networks, which has created a rich media content delivery network, has announced the closing of a $6 million series B financing round led by Steamboat Ventures, the venture capital firm affiliated with Disney.  The company also announced that Scott Hilleboe, senior principal of Steamboat Ventures, and Jeffrey Stibel, president of Website Pros, will join EdgeCast’s board of directors.

EdgeCast’s series A investors included Mark Amin, chairman of CinemaNow as well as Jon Feltheimer, CEO of Lionsgate Films.

EdgeCast says the funding will go toward expanding the company’s international reach, scaling its network for additional capacity, enhancing features, and further developing its sales and marketing operations.  The latest round brings EdgeCast’s total funding to more than $10 million, the company says.

EdgeCast says it provides each of its customers with dedicated edge space on its servers, providing superior speed and a scalable, globally load balanced architecture that it says supports massive audiences.
