Goodreads Gets Angel Funding
Tweet12/20/07 – Santa Monica-based Goodreads, a social networking web site where users discuss books, has announced that it has raised a round of funding from angel investors, including James Currier, founder of Ooga Labs, and Tickle.com. The company has not disclosed the amount raised.
Goodreads has set up a social network, a-la MySpace or Facebook, where people can exchange information about books, and give recommendations to fellow users. The company was founded last year by Otis Chandler, who previous served as a product manager for LoveHappens.com. It claims to have 600,000 members at this point.
Also participating in the funding were Bebo founder Michael Birch; Military.com founder Chris Michel; Userplane founder Mike Jones; True Ventures; and Ooga Labs co-founder Stan Chudnovsky.
