Trilogy Studios Adds Advisor

12/27/07 – Santa Monica-based Trilogy Studios, the videogame and virtual world development startup, has appointed video game industry veteran and former Sony PlayStation and Sega chief Bernard Stolar to its board of advisors.

Stolar led the PlayStation business as president of Sony Computer Entertainment America.  He currently serves as chairman of the board at mobile content provider Oasys Mobile.  Trilogy says that Stolar will help the company navigate the “casual” massively multiplayer online, or MMO, gaming market.

Trilogy, founded in 2005, develops virtual worlds and console games for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PCs.  The company says it offers major media companies the opportunity to promote and monetize their content and new entertainment properties in the online space through micro-transactions, premium subscriptions, e-commerce, sponsorships and advertising.  The company recently designed and launched MTV Networks’ online virtual “Pimp My Ride” web site.

Trilogy recently closed a second round of independent equity funding, totaling $3.2 million.
