CyberDefender to Release Beta of New Security Toolbar
Tweet1/14/08 – Los Angeles-based security software developer CyberDefender has announced that it will release a beta of its safeSEARCH Toolbar v2.0 at the end of this month. The company says it will be available for download beginning January 30 at beta.cyberdefender.com.
The toolbar is a free browser plug-in that offers Internet search while protecting personal information and ensuring privacy, according to CyberDefender. The most prominent new feature of version 2.0, according to the company, is the ability to preview web site security rating and user ratings before entering a selected site.
CyberDefender says that the toolbar also provides instant access to critical site details such as site owner, host country, IP address for the site, contact information, popularity ratings, affiliated web sites, and a brief site description to help users make an informed decision before entering a potentially unsafe web site. SafeSEARCH v2.0 also helps users clearly distinguish between safe and dangerous web sites within search results from Google, MSN, Yahoo and AOL, says the company.
CyberDefender was founded in 2003. Investors include ARC Investment Partners, ITU Ventures, Oceana Partners and Centrecourt Asset Management.
