Vivaldi has announced the release of its advanced web browser, Vivaldi 1.6. The latest version is the most detail-orientated to date, including tab notifications – an industry first – along with more tab enhancements designed to put the user fully in charge of their own browsing experience.
Jon von Tetzchner, CEO, Vivaldi Technologies, said, “Details matter. Users matter. They are the key to a successful product.
“While we work on bigger features, our focus on the detail does not stop. The Vivaldi browser is heading to be more interactive and intuitive, allowing for greater creativity, customisation, and freedom.”
Noteable tab enhancements include notifications, which uses overlay number icons to notify users of new content and changes happening in both regular and pinned tabs; stacks, which allows users to simply right click and rename any given tab stack, making it easier to distinguish between websites with similar content, and tab selection by domain. This last one allows Vivaldi fans to easily select multiple tabs by their domain, making stacking or tiling selected tabs effortless.
Cisco predicts that by 2020, there will be 3.4 connections per capita, some 26.3 billion connections. The founding team at Vivaldi believes that the browser is the single platform capable of providing a portal to this booming number. Central to this concept, is the provision of a personalized tool, enabling Vivaldi users to control and adapt these evolving web capabilities.
After making quite a statement with the launch of the 1.0 version earlier this year, Tetzchner and his team hope that their continuing enhancements will help users to better harness the power and potential of the ever-multiplying Internet of Things (IoT).
Tetzchner contiued, “We set out on a mission this year to make web browsers powerful again. Everything we build is in service of the user and we will continue to pursue this mission with each update.
