Bellabeat gets $4.5M for its app-based pregnancy health tracker

Bellabeat, maker of an app-based prenatal tracking system for pregnant women, has raised $4.5 million in Seed funding. Investors include SVAngel, CrunchFund, Universal Music Group, Cherubic Ventures and Promus Ventures. The company has built a smartphone attachment that enables expectant parents to hear, record and even share a baby’s heartbeat. It also includes a kick counter, prenatal care organizer and a pregnancy diary.

The Mountain View-based startup, which also has an office in Zagreb, Croatia, was founded in 2013 by CEO Sandro Mur and COO Urška Sršen. It was part of Y Combinator’s Winter 2014 class.
