Chef-crafted meal delivery service Kitchfix closes $450K round of financing

Company Debuts First Store In Chicago’s Gold Coast

CHICAGOKitchfix, the healthy meal delivery service that creates chef-crafted, ready-to-eat meals for busy professionals and families, today announced that it has raised a $450,000 round of financing to continue its rapid expansion. The round, led by local angel investor Ken Leonard, the first and largest investor in Protein Bar, brings the company’s total funding to $750,000. Additional Chicago-area angel investors participated in the investment. The company also announced that its first retail store will open on August 21 on State St. in Chicago’s Gold Coast.

“2015 has been an exciting, record-breaking year for Kitchfix, and the entire team has worked really hard to get to this point,” said Josh Katt, founder and CEO of Kitchfix. “Opening our first retail store was the next piece of the puzzle and we are thrilled to give new and pre-existing customers the opportunity to conveniently access our healthy snacks and meals without the wait.”

The 1,450-square-foot facility located at 1165 N. State St. next to Sweat on State, will stock ready-to-eat fresh and delicious grab-and-go packaged meals, snacks, deli items and juices featuring seasonal options and fan favorites. New signature menu items will also be introduced including an assortment of house-made bone broths, made-to-order smoothies and “Fix’d Coffee and Lattes,” the city’s first coconut oil-infused coffees and lattes available on the go. The chef-crafted, nutritious and never-frozen meals will be delivered to the store fresh each morning from Kitchfix’s main kitchen in West Town. Gold Coast retail store hours are Monday through Thursday 7 a.m. – 8:30 p.m., Friday 7 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. and weekends 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Meals range from $12 to $18, depending on size, and snacks can be purchased anywhere from $4 to $12. Seating, microwaves and toaster ovens will be available for customers to enjoy the locally sourced, organic, gluten, soy and dairy-free meal and snack lineup.

The three-day grand opening celebration will run through Sunday, August 23. On Friday and Saturday, August 21-22, Kitchfix will offer customers a buy-one, get-one free meal promotion during regular store hours; the offer is limited to one per person.
