Featured Startup Pitch: ViewDo Labs offers a social media management platform that enables companies to increase effectiveness of internal social networks

By Mike Alden, ViewDo Labs founder and CEO

Elevator Pitch: ViewDo Labs is a pioneer in enterprise social network (ESN) analytics and governance. While there are many companies that provide tools to measure external social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, we have focused all of our efforts on the internal social networks that employees are using to stay productive and efficient in their daily tasks.

Product Description

Our flagship product, ViewPoint Enterprise, combines data from multiple ESN platforms and presents it in an interactive, intuitive, and unified ‘dashboard’ that gives enterprises visibility and control of what’s going on within their organization. We help businesses see what’s happening on Yammer, SharePoint, Chatter, and other ESNs to help them increase adoption, decrease collaboration risks, and fuel innovation—all to validate the ROI they’ve made in ESNs.

Founder’s Story

In 2007, while I was working as CEO of Percussion Software, a web content management system, I noticed an increase in the Lotus Notes market and spun off a company called Axceler, which focused on providing administration and governance capabilities. Microsoft SharePoint was born soon after, and recognizing the new opportunity, we experienced enormous growth and by 2013 were a leading Microsoft SharePoint Independent Software Vendor (ISV).

The growth was so significant that Metalogix, the biggest SharePoint ISV, purchased Axceler’s SharePoint business in 2013. I couldn’t shake the entrepreneurial bug, and along with several others from the Axceler team, formed ViewDo Labs with a strategic focus on offering businesses the unique ability to view, analyze, and govern all enterprise social network platforms.

Marketing/Promotion Strategy

We use the following strategies for marketing and promotion: Webinars, whitepapers, case studies, ebooks, social media marketing, and media and analyst partnerships.

Market Opportunity

Our key focus now is to expand ViewPoint Enterprise’s capabilities to all major enterprise social network platforms. We also have a keen eye on expanding ViewDo into other markets, including the United Kingdom.

How We Differentiate from the Competition

Our key differentiator that we bring to the market is the unique ability to view, analyze, and govern all enterprise social networks in a single, unified dashboard. Through our ViewPoint Enterprise platform, businesses can monitor adoption and engagement and see the ROI they’ve made in collaboration.

Business Model

ViewDo Labs sells our products through an annual subscription, delivered through a SaaS [Software-as-a-Service] model built on Microsoft Azure.

Current Needs

While currently self-funded, we may look to outside investors to help accelerate growth toward the end of 2014. With such explosive growth, ViewDo Labs is currently looking to expand the team for our sales force as well as specifically looking to hire software engineers and data analysts.
