Funding and Acquisitions Roundup: Los Angeles-based Divshot closes a $1.1M Seed round for its browser-based app development environment

Today’s early-stage startup funding and acquisitions news:

Enterprise

Web app interface builder Divshot announced today that it closed $1.1 million Seed funding round. The round for the Los Angeles–based startup was led by Rincon Venture Partners, with participation from 500 Startups, Daher Capital, Floodlight Ventures, Cooley LLP, Drummond Road Capital and Eric Hammond. Divshot has developed a browser-based, drag-and-drop interface for building certain types of web apps, and was founded at Startup Weekend Kansas City in April of last year. It is also a graduate of the Launchpad LA accelerator. Here’s the funding press release, via PEHub.

Gaming

Australia’s Virtual Gaming Worlds has secured $2.5 million (Australian dollars—$2.6 million USD) to complete its Chumba World online gambling platform. Apparently, fundraising campaign to fund Chumba World was kicked off of Kickstarter last month, so the company took a more traditional route to raising funds. Cloud

And something from late Friday… Dropbox has snapped up early-stage email management startup Mailbox. Speculation has the acquisition price at around $100 million (speculation via TechCrunch). See the announcement from the Dropbox blog.

Finance/Investment

The Samwer brothers, known for founding Rocket Internet—which essentially founds clones of large ecommerce sites like Amazon in underserved markets (or at least markets outside the U.S.), has partnered with former Delivery Hero co-CEO Fabian Siegel to found new investment fund for Internet businesses. Named Global Founders Capital, the fund will be directed toward startups at all stages—from Seed to late-stage, according to VentureBeat.
