Funding and Acquisitions Roundup: Social Bicycles raises $1.1M to facilitate secure bike sharing in cities

Social Bicycles has raised $1.1 million in Seed funding to grow its social bicycle sharing service (hence the name). Investors include David Rose of New York Angels, Esther Dyson, Amol Sarva and Karl Ulrich. The service utilizes GPS to track bikes that have been lent out. Social Bicycles was founded in 2011. Local commerce startup Local Market Launch has landed $1.5 million in Series A funding. Investors in the Santa Barbara-based company include Rincon Venture Partners. Local Market Launch was founded in 2012 and has raised total of $2.7 million, according to TechCrunch.
