JuiceBox Games leverages an experienced team to land $2.5M

Mobile ‘midcore’ games developer JuiceBox Games has raised $2.5 million in Seed funding. Investors include Initial Capital, General Catalyst Partners, Index Ventures, and Maveron, along with ex-EA CEO John Riccitiello and Zynga co-founder Scott Dale. The San Francisco-based studio already has found success with its HonorBound mobile role playing game, which has surpassed more than three million downloads, according to reports. The real differentiator for the company is its founding team—a group of former Zynga developers with deep experience in mobile gaming.

It was founded in 2012 by CEO Michael Martinez, CTO Jason McGuirk, and creative director Zak Pytlak, and this is its first round of outside funding.
