Los Angeles, CA (June 4, 2015) – MakerSquare, a renowned 12-week coding bootcamp with locations in San Francisco and Austin, announced today the official launch of its Los Angeles location. To celebrate, their new MakerPrep program and diversity-focused scholarship was also announced in conjunction with the launch. The scholarship provides full-ride coverage of the $16,920 12-week program fee for selected applicants with eligibility open to women and underrepresented applicants.
“Access to becoming a great software engineer should not be limited by gender or race,” said Harsh Patel, Co-founder of MakerSquare. “As we launch our new LA location and MakerPrep, one of our goals is to encourage all types of people to enter the field through our diversity-focused scholarship.”
MakerSquare LA’s monthly 12-week bootcamp will teach curriculum covering the software industry’s most in-demand skills. Classes start the first of the month with the next starting on August 17, 2015. The class will provide both programming skills and real-world career skills with an emphasis on achieving mid-level and senior-level software development careers. In addition, the new MakerPrep – a monthly four-week, nights/weekends course that teaches beginners the fundamentals of programming and web development, runs from July 6-August 1, 2015. MakerPrep grads that wish to move forward will have their already-paid tuition apply to their MakerSquare tuition as credit.
“With the landscape of web and mobile development evolving so rapidly, it’s important to get a solid foundation of skills as quickly as possible,” said Eric Levine, Software Engineer at J. Paul Getty Museum. “MakerSquare helped me jump onto this moving train much more efficiently than through self-directed study.”
To maximize student confidence in the program, MakerSquare offers complete transparency with its post-graduate numbers. MakerSquare works with grads on job placement, along with baked-in program training to prepare for real-world hiring situations, and the result has been a 96% hiring rate within three months of graduation and an average starting salary of $87,688 for MakerSquare graduates in California.
