Massive Analytic’s Maria Ghibu recognised in women in IT awards for driving company innovation in 2015

Maria Ghibu amongst top contenders to receive Innovator of the Year Award

LONDON, UK – January 27, 2016Massive Analytic, a start-up specialising in innovative precognitive enterprise analytics, celebrates the success of their Head of Operations, Maria Ghibu, in the Women in IT Awards. After a fruitful 2015, Ghibu has been selected as a finalist in the Innovator of the Year category in the awards, eagerly awaiting the results at the prestigious ceremony this Thursday.

This category recognises a woman who was integral to company innovation and the resulting success in customer wins, deployments and ongoing progression for the business. In 2015, Massive Analytic experienced continued growth in these areas and further innovation of their precognitive analytics platform, Oscar AP (artificial precognition) through collaborations with UCL. Observing areas such as product, client testimonials, financial success and more, the judges were impressed with Ghibu’s role in the company’s success and advancements. In a recent interview, Ghibu discusses her professional background, experiences and her role at Massive Analytic.

Ben Rossi, Group Editor of Vitesse Media and organizer of the Women in IT Awards said “Massive Analytic is behind some promising developments in the data science space, particularly in the very exciting area of artificial intelligence, and has demonstrated new ways for businesses to predict outcomes and improve decision-making. We’re delighted to recognise the company, and Maria Ghibu’s role in its success, among this year’s finalists for the Women in IT Awards.”

Speaking of the importance of female recognition in IT, Massive Analytic Founder and CEO George Frangou referred to a quote from Facebook COO, Sheryl Sandberg; “Men still run the world – and I’m not sure it’s going that well,” And until we rectify that, everyone will suffer: “It means we’re not using the full talent of the population.”

Frangou said “Women make up just one fifth of the IT workforce. The challenge to getting more women in IT is not just encouraging girls to pursue careers in computer science but for employers to demonstrate that empowering women in the IT industry leads to profound benefit for all. How and why demonstrate this empowerment? Empowering women in IT is crucial to solving a lot of problems that are as important to men as they are to women. My experience as a CEO is that women can provide critical insight across different parts of an IT company. A few of significant value I have seen first-hand across my companies are discerning the real usability of a product, knowing how best to mitigate risk in deploying technology for customers, building teams with the right skills, delivery of projects for customers.”

Delighted with Ghibu’s acknowledgement in the awards, Frangou also spoke of her qualities driving company success: “As head of operations for MA, Maria provides the management and leadership needed to ensure that the technology and engineering side of the business can fulfil the product marketing strategy and deliver sales orders. In addition, Maria has successfully led grant awards and competitive tenders adding significant value to MA”.

In this category, Massive Analytic is competing with other shortlisted companies such as retail data specialists Clear Returns, and financial management solutions provider BlackLine. Maria Ghibu, George Frangou and the rest of the Massive Analytic team eagerly await the winner announcement later this week.
