Tracksmith launches with big backing for its premium running apparel brand

Running apparel startup Tracksmith has launched with the debut of its first five products. The Wellesley, Massachusetts-based company is focused on producing premium clothing and bags for running enthusiasts. Its initial products include running shorts and racing tops, which they sell online. It is backed by $1.6 million in initial funding that the team raised back in November of 2013. Investors reportedly include Index Ventures, Lerer Hippeau Ventures, Bridge Boys and Angel investors.

Tracksmith was founded by Luke Scheybeler and former Puma marketing executive Matt Taylor.
