Vakast raises $1.3M for its vacation rentals booking site

Vakast, an aggregated vacation rentals search and booking site, has announced that it has raised $1.3 million in Seed funding. Investors include Blackstone Group’s Chinh Chu and Ken Pansuria, co-founder of the Fine Hospitality Group. The Newport Beach, California-based company describes its platform as “an Expedia-like experience” which enables travelers to search and book across 25 different peer-to-peer and traditional rental sites. It already counts partnerships with HomeAway, Wimdu, Villas of Distinction and HouseTrip. The team says that the site currently includes listings from 1.5 million rental properties from around the world.

It was founded in 2013 by Tam Nguyen and Huan Truong, and this is its first round of outside funding.
