Vivaldi launches version 1.5 with smart-home lighting integrations

Vivid has unveiled the release of its most advanced web browser, Vivaldi 1.5. The  new version provides a number of browsing enhancements, including integrations to alter smart-home lighting levels available through Vivaldi’s highly-customizable browsing technology.

For those not in the know, Vivaldi Technologies is an employee-owned company that creates products and services for discerning web users.

Led by CEO Jon von Tetzchner – formerly of Opera – Vivaldi believes in putting its users first in everything it does. Vivaldi is headquartered in Oslo, Norway, with offices in Reykjavik, Iceland and Boston, MA

CEO von Tetzchner said, “We want our browser to be intelligent and create new experiences and services.

“Thinking beyond a browser and entering the real world encourages this spirit of innovation and experimentation for our users, helping to make the browsing experience more creative and pleasurable.”

Vivaldi is making tentative steps towards developing a browser that can integrate with everyday devices. Cisco predicts that by 2020, there will be 3.4 connections per capita, some 26.3 billion connections.

The founding team at Vivaldi believes that the browser is the single platform providing a portal to these multiplying connections. Central to this concept, is the provision of a personalized tool, enabling Vivaldi users to control and adapt these evolving web capabilities.

The new version includes the first-ever smart-home light control system in the browser, through Vivaldi’s integration with Hue color from Philips.

Other features include tab stacking, tab dragging, delta updates for Windows versions, as well as an automatic screen shot feature that stores images in notes.
