WriteLaTeX gets Seed funding for its collaborative editor for academic papers

WriteLaTeX, startup that offers a collaborative academic paper editor, has landed a Seed stage investment from Digital Science, a division of Macmillan Science & Education. Its Overleaf tool utilizes a WYSIWYG manuscript editor that enables real-time collaboration among multiple contributors.

The company says that Overleaf is currently used in more than 1,000 universities and institutions around the world. It was founded in 2012 by John Hammersley and John Lees-Miller, and is past participant in the Bethnal Green Ventures accelerator.
