PumpUp, a Toronto-based startup that has built a photo-centric social network for fitness enthusiasts, has launched out of beta. The company touts a combination of social sharing and connections, “custom workouts, fitness coaching and activity tracking” as its differentiator from other social applications in the space.
It was founded in 2012 by Garrett Gottlieb and Phil Jacobson, and has raised just north of $230,000 in Angel funding. PumpUp claims that it gained more than a million users during its beta, which lasted about six months.
