Enflux is a startup that makes Smart Clothing that tracks your performance during exercise and provides real-time feedback like a coach through a smartphone app. They launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and have raised over $50,000 in the first 48 hours.
Their clothing has embedded motion sensors that capture the 3D movement of your body and display a 3D image of you exercising on your smartphone. Enflux has already been covered in publications like TechCrunch and Venture Beat and is poised to disrupt the wearable fitness industry. They are funded by the prestigious startup accelerator Y Combinator, which has funded companies such as Dropbox and Airbnb.
Fitness trackers on the market today measure heart rate and steps, but don’t have what counts most in sports and exercise: how your body moves. With a full body 3D capture, Enflux Smart Clothing analyzes your form during exercise to help you maximize your athletic performance and avoid injuries. With real-time feedback from our app, it’s like having a personal trainer in your pocket. Simply by putting on a shirt. And the best part is, there are no clumsy straps or clips involved, this is the first fitness wearable you actually wear.
The founders of Enflux created the technology because they wanted to make high-quality coaching and workout tracking accessible to everyone. As athletes and coaches themselves, they have used just about every wearable on the market, paid thousands of dollars for personal trainers, and struggled with manually logging workouts on pen and paper for years. They are designing Enflux as a seamless experience that will help you see better results, improve your technique, and reduce injuries. Enflux is disrupting the market for fitness wearables, taking on companies like Fitbit as well as apparel manufacturers such as Nike and Under Armour, a combined market in excess of over $200 B in the United States alone.
How Enflux Works:
You put on Enflux clothing, go to the gym, and start the mobile app. You can preload your workouts and set the phone down anywhere within 30 feet of where you’re working out. During exercise, you get real-time audio feedback on your form, progress, and more. After your workout is complete, you can review results, get coaching on your form, and view a 3D avatar performing the exercises exactly as you just did. Additionally, the shirt includes a heartrate monitor for endurance training and aerobic activity. Enflux currently supports weightlifting and running, and future versions will cover many more sports using the same clothing.
The shirt and pants have a total of 10 tiny motion sensors on your arms, legs, and torso, which capture the 3D movement of your entire body. The clothes transmit data to the smartphone app, and the app creates a 3D image of you moving in real-time. Then the app provides incredibly detailed and high-quality feedback on your movement, just like a coach or trainer would. It measures the quality of your form, intensity of your workout, and other advanced exercise metrics. The shirt also has a built-in heart rate monitor as well for running and other cardio applications. It’s available as an ULTRA early-bird special on Kickstarter for only $249.99, and the app will be a free download on iOS and Android. The clothing is machine-washable and is incredibly lightweight and stretchable.
You can share your workouts with friends, coaches, and trainers on our online platform. Trainers can comment on client workouts even when they aren’t physically there.
