The Oscars, as always, proved to be a memorable night with plenty of surprises and more stars than a Saharan night sky. This year was no exception, and will undoubtedly go down in Hollywood history.
Jordan Peele earned his first Oscar for Best Original Screenplay thanks to the incredible Get Out and became the first black writer to win in this category. Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water scooped up a number of awards, including Best Picture, Best Director for Guillermo del Toro, Best Original Score, composed by Alexander Desplat.
The film did not go unnoticed by host Jimmy Kimmel who stated “A film that’s up for 13 Oscars is ‘The Shape of Water,’ written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, a wonderful man … and thanks to Guillermo, we will always remember this year as the year men screwed up so badly, women started dating fish,” reports The Washington Post.
