For media companies, the advertising stack is becoming more than a collection of tools for selling and delivering campaigns. As publishers expand their products and serve advertisers across different industries and markets, they also need the infrastructure to coordinate pricing, inventory, fulfilment, billing, and revenue operations.

Advance Local is taking a step in that direction with ADvendio. The US media and marketing group has selected the company as its long term partner for advertising order management and agentic advertising infrastructure, following an evaluation of solutions for its advertising business.

ADvendio will consolidate processes across the advertising lifecycle on a unified platform. The implementation will cover sales, campaign management, fulfilment, billing, and revenue operations, with the aim of reducing manual work and complex system customizations.

The scale of Advance Local helps explain the complexity of the operation.

The company is a nationwide media, marketing, and intelligence business whose news brands include NJ.com, AL.com, MLive, OregonLive, and Cleveland.com, among others. Together, those properties reach more than 50 million people every month.

Its advertising business also extends beyond its news brands. Advance Travel and Tourism works with destinations and travel companies. Advance Healthcare serves specialty practices, hospitals, and senior living organizations. Advance Education helps vocational schools, community colleges, and universities reach prospective students, while Advance Local Solutions works with businesses across the regional economies where the company operates.

The result is an advertising operation that has to accommodate different audiences, industries, products, and commercial workflows.

Moving from fragmented processes to an advertising operating layer

ADvendio’s role will be to connect those processes rather than treat them as separate functions.

The platform will create what the companies describe as a single source of commercial truth, aligning pricing, inventory execution, and billing. For Advance Local, the immediate objective is to reduce the operational burden on its teams.

Instead of relying heavily on manual interventions and customized systems, employees will be able to work from a more unified commercial infrastructure. That is expected to give teams more time to focus on revenue generation and advertiser relationships.

“At Advance Solutions, everything starts with helping our clients succeed. We wanted an operations platform that supports that mission. By unifying planning, fulfilment and reporting, ADvendio streamlines the work behind the scenes and gives our teams more time to focus on what matters most: understanding our clients’ challenges and helping them achieve better business outcomes,” said Natalie Pruitt, president of Advance Solutions.

The longer term ambition goes beyond operational consolidation. Advance Local will be able to introduce new workflows and increase automation as its advertising business develops. The architecture is also designed to accommodate AI driven capabilities as those requirements emerge.

That could become increasingly relevant as media companies experiment with more automated approaches to advertising operations. AI may eventually help with individual tasks, but those systems still depend on the underlying infrastructure that connects inventory, commercial rules, campaign execution, and financial processes.

For ADvendio, the partnership represents an opportunity to apply that infrastructure across a diversified media and marketing organization.

“This is an incredibly exciting moment for the whole ADvendio family, as Advance Local is a hugely prestigious organisation. We are thrilled to have received their confidence in this decision, and the opportunity to partner in their long term growth and development. I look forward to helping them achieve their goals, and learning what more additional value we can unlock,” said Bernd Bube, founder and CEO of ADvendio.

The agreement ultimately reflects a broader evolution in advertising technology. As publishers move toward more automated and AI enabled operations, the competitive advantage may increasingly come from how well the systems underneath those products work together.
