Insurance brokerages are looking for ways to combine specialized expertise with broader service offerings as businesses face increasingly complex risks. For companies serving startups and high-growth businesses, that means providing coverage that can adapt to changing business models, funding stages and operational needs.

Founder Shield is consolidating its identity under The Baldwin Group, becoming the parent company’s Innovation Practice. The transition formalizes the integration of the insurance brokerage, which joined The Baldwin Group in 2021, and places its specialized risk management services under the group’s brand.

Founder Shield has spent more than a decade developing digital insurance solutions for emerging companies. It has served more than 20,000 clients across sectors including life sciences, technology, media, financial services and small business.

The rebrand brings Founder Shield’s capabilities into The Baldwin Group’s broader insurance distribution business. The company says it will continue providing specialized insurance products, risk management expertise and client services for businesses at different stages of growth.

“Founder Shield brings capabilities and talent that make The Baldwin Group a stronger, more integrated firm,” said Michael Robinson, President, Innovation Practice at The Baldwin Group. “As our Innovation Practice, we are adding momentum to a firm built for what’s ahead, and we couldn’t be more excited to finalize the brand transition.”

The company has not announced changes to its existing services as part of the rebrand. Founder Shield’s insights, resources and client portals will remain available through foundershield.com and baldwin.com.

Kyle Jeziorski, Managing Director, Innovation Practice at The Baldwin Group, said the transition would give clients access to broader capabilities while preserving the business’s existing focus.

“The Founder Shield name may be changing, but its commitment to clients remains as strong as ever,” Jeziorski said.

“This transition opens the door to broader capabilities, greater collaboration, and a forward-thinking approach to risk and insurance that helps protect the possible for clients.”

The integration reflects The Baldwin Group’s efforts to expand its offerings for businesses as they move from early-stage development to larger operations. According to the company, its capabilities have grown since Founder Shield joined in 2021, giving clients access to additional solutions throughout their growth journeys.

The Baldwin Group operates as an independent insurance distribution firm under The Baldwin Insurance Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: BWIN). Its services include insurance, risk management and employee benefits. The company says it represents more than three million clients across the United States and internationally.

Founder Shield’s rebrand aligns its market identity with the parent company while retaining its focus on emerging businesses. The announcement does not detail changes to its product portfolio, pricing or operating structure beyond its designation as The Baldwin Group’s Innovation Practice.

For startups and other high-growth companies, specialized insurance remains an important part of managing risks as they expand. The Baldwin Group will continue offering Founder Shield’s expertise within its broader platform, according to the announcement.
