MessageMe, mobile messaging app that allows enhanced messaging and competes with popular apps like WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger, has closed a $10 million Series A round. The startup, which launched in 2012, previously raised Seed and Venture Rounds totaling $1.9 million. Investors in the Series A include Greylock Partners and John Lilly. CrowdOptic, mobile app that allows users to identify where people are pointing their smartphone cameras and make social connections based on their shared photographic interests, has landed $1 million in a new round of Venture Funding. Investors include Silicon Valley Bank and Angel investor, former Oracle president and COO, and Kleiner Perkins Partner Emeritus Ray Lane. The San Francisco-based startup has raised $3.5 million to date, including Series A round in 2011 that was its first institutional round. Here’s more on the new funding, from TechCrunch.
Enterprise location-based mobile software startup Meridian has been acquired by Aruba Networks—the big enterprise mobile network access provider. Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed. Portland, Oregon-based Meridian was founded in the spring of 2011 and raised $1 million in Seed funding later that same year. Here’s the acquisition announcement from the companies.
