BoardVitals will receive 3 months of incubator workspace and support, mentorship from Super Angel Investor David S. Rose, and the opportunity to pitch the city’s top investors.
HEVO Power named CATAPULT NYC Runner-up
February 11, 2014 – NEW YORK, NEW YORK – Gust, the global investor relations platform connecting high-growth entrepreneurs and active early-stage investors, today announced BoardVitals as the winner of CATAPULT NYC, a contest for New York City-based startups. BoardVitals, the leading provider of Medical Board review, will receive 3 months of workspace and support in the Greenhouse Incubator in the heart of Silicon Alley, as well as mentorship from David S. Rose, CEO of Gust, prolific investor and serial entrepreneur, who Business Week dubbed “The Pitch Coach” for his work with early-stage entrepreneurs. At the end of the 3 months, BoardVitals will pitch members of New York Angels, the most active angel investment group in the U.S. at its monthly screening session. The runner up, HEVO Power, which provides opportunistic charging, known as Green Parking Zones, for city dwellers and commuters gearing up to purchase a plug-in hybrid or electric vehicle, will also receive presentation coaching from David S. Rose and an opportunity to pitch at a New York Angels screening session.
“BoardVitals and HEVO Power stood out among a group of exceptional startups,” said David S. Rose, CEO of Gust. “Our winning startup, BoardVitals, has one of the smartest business models I’ve seen in New York City, and the company is filling a large and lucrative gap in the market. Runner-up HEVO Power is accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles with an innovative approach to wireless charging infrastructure. Gust is excited to watch both companies grow as we continue our support of New York’s thriving entrepreneurial community.”
BoardVitals is a high-quality, affordable, and effective Medical Board review tool for practicing physicians, residents, and medical students. It combines review questions from publishers with questions from over 150 expert medical specialists into a single digital question bank, bringing together the best content and helping doctors stay up to date with discoveries across their field of interest. BoardVitals also provides physicians with detailed feedback and assessment of their progress broken down by subject areas, including comparisons of their performance to that of their peers.
“We recently closed a seed round, and Gust was crucial in helping us contact investors,” said Daniel Lambert, CEO of BoardVitals. “It’s also great to see Gust supporting the entrepreneurial ecosystem through CATAPULT NYC. They’re doing a lot to help the Community, and we’re grateful for it.”
“The Gust CATAPULT NYC startup contest was a huge win for HEVO,” said Jeremy McCool, CEO and Founder of HEVO Power. “Our weekly page views went up over 200% since signing up and we initiated due diligence with multiple investors that found us through the competition. We’re very proud of our accomplishment and we’re excited to take advantage of the resources that Gust will provide us as a result of our win.”
Startup companies that participated in CATAPULT NYC were evaluated on a number of factors, including strength of business plan and revenue strategy, product/service, team, marketing plan, financials, and overall viability. There were two rounds of judging: a preliminary screening round carried out by industry experts, and a final round judged by leading independent New York City angel investors, including David S. Rose, CEO of Gust.
Registration for CATAPULT NYC was restricted to for-profit, New York City-based startups focused on innovative web, social, financial, mobile, green tech, entertainment, health, or media technologies.
